As a travel mom it quickly becomes apparent which products really help make travel easier and which products make it worse. A stroller is an essential travel companion but with so many styles and designs out there – from three wheels or four, jogger or compact – it can be hard to figure out which to bring along. Jogger strollers are awesome all terrain vehicles and excellent shopping companions, but can be bulky and rarely self stand. On the opposite end of the spectrum, umbrella strollers are super portable but rarely offer comfort, ruggedness or storage capacity. The travel tot, or travel mom, needs a stroller that’s somewhere in the middle, with the best of both worlds.
4 Features of a Good Travel Stroller
Lightweight
Transporting in the car, out of the car, through the airport and everywhere in between, you’re definitely not going to want a bulky baby stroller. A light weight, compact stroller is a travel moms best friend. The Urbini Hummingbird Stroller weighs in at under 7lbs making it light and easy to pick up with one hand if you happen to have a bag, child, dog, diaper in the other. Unlike the typical umbrella stroller, it’s aluminum frame also makes it very sturdy.
Storage
In order to maintain it’s light weight and convenience the Urbini Hummingbird does not include a tray or cup holder but it does have a roomy under carriage storage area. To me, this is the most important storage compartment to have, not to mention the most stable/safe. It’s deep and the perfect size for my full-sized travel backpack, a diaper bag or even a soft cooler.
Comfort
Amusement parks, hiking trails, long treks through an airport or down the magnificent mile, travel kids often spend a fair amount of time in their strollers. Even in a lightweight stroller you want them comfortable because – well have you seen a toddler who hates their stroller? One of the things that makes the Hummingbird my favorite lightweight stroller is that it doesn’t sacrifice comfort. It offers both a multi-position reclining seat and a padded 5 point harness.
Convenience
The Urbini Hummingbird offers the ability to open with one hand, offers a two step lock system and stands upright on its own when it’s closed. No more bending down to close, open or pick up with this stroller! Everything is done in the upright position. It even comes assembled out of the box. I simply had to snap on the wheels and we were ready to go. It doesn’t get much more convenient than that!
While this is easily the best lightweight stroller we’ve ever owned, I’m hoping that for future models they make the swivel arm bar removable, as well as the sun shade.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Urbini. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and as a thank you for participating.
That would have been a great stroller when my kids were little. Much better than the bulky thing we had.
This stroller looks amazing! These are all great tips.. strollers have come a long way in the past few years! Nice to know there are such great strollers for travel.
I really like that it is lightweight – so many strollers are heavy and awkward! This looks like a great stroller to have.
What an awesome stroller! I love that it stands like that. Some don’t!
I’m not a mom but I have plenty of friends who are so I do understand the importance of a good stroller, especially when traveling or on the go. These are all 4 great features everyone needs in a stroller!
