It’s Tuesday afternoon. I find myself without my girls. They are playing with friends. I had finished up some work scouting a location where I will be photographing later this week and needed a quick bite before picking my little lovelies up. I headed to Second Street in the Belmont Shore neighborhood in Long Beach. The weather was breezy and 70 degrees. Yes CA I love you. I pulled up to Boubouffe Mediterranean Grille. I’d driven by several times but never have dined there but I noticed they offered a deal on Restaurant.com and decided today was the day.
I entered the airy, warm, and welcoming space. At 3pm nobody else was there so I sat myself in a cozy little corner inside. There is both inside and outdoor patio seating like many restaurants in Belmont Shore. I was greeted and served by Christina who was just a charming and beautiful gal. She was attentive but not looming especially for being her only patron. I asked her about being so empty and she said I missed the heavy lunch wave and dinner will be hopping. I just happened to come at a perfect time for some solitude.
There was a lovely wine menu. I was tempted to get a sangria but I saved that for another visit. The entire menu looked amazing. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Lunch and Dinner menu had classic items like hummus and tabbouleh, and kebabs. Fries with feta, Stuffed North African Peppers and Roasted Beet Salad caught my attention on the menu. I decided for go for the cream de la crème – Grilled Kebab Platter of Marinated Beef Tenderloin Filet Mignon with Greek Salad and Rice. Boy did I make the right decision. The beef was tender and melted in my mouth. The salad was perfectly dressed and balanced –olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and romaine in each bite. Rice, oh beautiful rice! When it’s done right, I could eat for miles. This was done right. I might as well licked my plate but I was full before I embarrassed myself in front of my waitress.
“Boubouffe Grille is a unique restaurant specializing in foods from all around the Mediterranean sea, with a California twist. The sauces and spices are from such regions as Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, to create one of a kind dishes for your guests to enjoy.”
The tone of Boubouffe is casual and elegant. It’s a great place for a date, night out with friends. I would bring my family in as well. There was soft music and overall good ambience. But you could still hang out and watch the World Cup. I highly recommend Bouboufee Grille. I’ll be back because I want to try the pomegranate ice cream and an Italian soda and the grilled shrimp and stacked caprese salad and ….
Had it not been for Restaurant.com’s deal ($10 off of $20) I probably wouldn’t have stopped in. I’m so glad I did because my “new favorite restaurant (was) out there “. The process is super simple. You can go online or they have a free app to download. You search your city by name, location or cuisine type. I looked for Long Beach restaurants near me. Next you purchase your deal. Certificates come in denominations of $5-$100. Some have a minimum amount you need to spend. I printed my certificate but you can also simple show your server your mobile phone. Christina, my server, simply made the modification to the check. Super easy, fun and of course delicious.
