There are only two holidays that encourage us to tell the people around us we love and appreciate them: Thanksgiving and Valentines Day. It isn’t November, so we’re obviously talking about Valentines Day. I’m of the opinion that couples should take any excuse and opportunity they can get to spend some quality time with each other. If you need a little inspiration or you’re looking for unique Valentines Day date ideas, try one of these 4 unforgettable ways to spend some time with the one you love.
The Ultimate Date Night at Home
Most of the time I’m itching to get out of the house for a weekend away. However, since I have yet to actually spend a single night in my new home, there are few things I would like more. I would love to spend the evening cooking up the perfect meal, making plans for our new space and spending some one on one time together.
Recreate Your First Date
My husband and I had our very first date at a local Italian restaurant. We discovered each others love for Italian food there and every year on our first-date anniversary (or around about that time once the kid came) we go back to that restaurant to commemorate our first date. Remind your significant other why they fell in love with you in the first place, and remind them just why you fell in love too!
Try Something New
Every couple has a list of things they’ve never done but would like to do. Instead of spending your Valentines Day doing the typical dinner and a movie, use it as the perfect excuse to plan something exciting. Start a conversation with your spouse now and it will give you two weeks to plan an epic date. A few fun ideas:
- Sky Diving
- Snuba Diving
- Hot Air Ballooning
- Horseback Riding
- Volunteer with Animals
- Learn to Surf
- Cliff Diving
Just Get Away
Perhaps the only thing I would like more than a night at home is to run away with my husband for a weekend. Valentines Day is the perfect time to plan an escape because most hotels are featuring specials for the most romantic day of the year.
Hotel Coral and Marina in Ensenada, Mexico, has of the most inclusive getaways I’ve seen yet with their 2015 Fall in Love Package. Couples are encouraged to create their own romantic Coral Experience with the package which includes a two-night stay in a junior suite, a 30-minute massage couples massage (yes please!), a romantic three-course dinner at the acclaimed Bistro & Cava, a bottle of sparkling wine and romantic room decor.
Husbands, are you reading this? The #CoralExperience package just did all the work for you. All you have to do is show up with flowers and you just scored ALL. THE. BROWNIE. POINTS. Just don’t dally because it’s only valid thru the end of February of 2015, so you can even choose to celebrate any day in February that works for you if the 14th doesn’t! PS Did I mention it’s only $398 a couple?
You can also enter for a chance to win a stay for free with the Hotel Coral and Marina #CoralExperience Twitter contest. The winner will receive a custom Hotel Coral getaway for two, including a three-night stay in an oceanfront deluxe suite, three winery tours with transportation and breakfast for two people daily. To enter the contest, residents of the U.S. and Mexico need to follow @HotelCoralBC on Twitter, send a tweet about their Coral Experience, including the handle @HotelCoralBC and hashtag #CoralExperience.
Earn Extra Entries: Tweeting a personal photo of the hotel on Twitter and both @HotelCoralBC and #CoralExperience.
Be sure to follow along April 10-12 as Jeana and Ben head down to Ensenada and share their #CoralExperience live!
I love the idea of going out for a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day. Maybe when I’ve got a beau, I’ll look into that one. :)
We went out for our big date last night. We went to see a show and had dinner. For the actual day – we have decided to walk through a park and have some ice cream. Couldn’t be more simple than that!
These all sound like really great options. Cannot wait for the big day to get here.
