Did Earth Day inspire you to make sustainable changes in your own life? You may have given some thought to those small everyday choices that are better for our earth, but buying a new car probably wasn’t on your list. Purchasing an eco-friendly car is a great way to start reducing your carbon footprint and caring for the environment, but it is hard to know where to start. There are a wide variety of options, and many can fall into the “way over my budget” category. However, Kelley Blue Book has recently released its lists of the top eco-friendly cars under $40k, and Kia had four cars featured! Living a “green” life doesn’t have to cost you all your green when Kia is making cars that are better for our earth and better for your wallet.
One of Kia’s newest creations, the 2018 Kia Niro, makes an eye-catching debut on the Kelley Blue Book list of 10 Best Hybrid Cars Under $40,000. If you need space for a family or toys but still want a reliable hybrid, the Niro starts at about $23,000 for the FE trim level and gets an EPA estimated 52 mpg city, 49 highway and 50 combined. It has a 6 speed automatic transmission and a combined horsepower of 139 at 5,700 rpm with room for 5 passengers. Inside the Niro you will find Android Auto™ and Apple Car Play™, a 6 speaker audio system and rear camera display. Finally Kia proves that you don’t have to sacrifice space when buying a hybrid.
The gorgeous 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid also made the list of the 10 Best Hybrid Cars Under $40,000, and it’s no wonder with an EPA mpg of 39 in the city, 46 for highway and a combined 49. In its basic trim level, the Optima starts at just under $26,000 and comes standard with features such as heated outside mirrors, a smart trunk, projector beam headlights and a rear camera display. This sleek design is a great option for a mid-size sedan with a combined horsepower of 192 at 6,000 rpm.
As the most recognizable Kia vehicle, the Kia Soul EV landed on the list of the 5 Best Electrical Cars Under $40,000. Starting at just under $34,000, the Soul EV has the same unique character of the Soul, but it is completely gas free! It gets an EPA estimated mpg of a whopping 120 city, 92 highway and 105 combined. One full charge offers about 93 miles, and its design delivers extra space without a crossover size vehicle. How’d they do that?
Finally, the newer Kia Optima Plug-In Hybrid was named one of the 5 Best Plug-In Hybrid Cars Under $40,000. Its curvy body and modern design offers a combined horsepower of 202 at 6,000 rpm with an estimated EPA of 38 mpg city, 43 highway and 40 combined. It has a variety of safety features that come standard like the front and rear crumple zones as well as tech savvy options like Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Treat yourself to the optional panoramic sunroof or simply enjoy its many standard luxuries without forking over extra dollars.
Living green is more affordable now than ever, and we love that Kia is constantly bringing innovative vehicles to the table that meet the demands of our ever changing world.
