O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walk allows you to walk through the canopy to see flowering and fruiting trees and vines, the epiphytic orchids and ferns, and the birds and animals that inhabit the tree tops. It’s the first of it’s kinds with 9 suspension bridges, many of which are 15 meters above ground. If you’re a bird watcher, then you’ll be particularly interested in O’Reilly’s annual Bird Week, this year from November 3-10, 2013.
“Now in its 36th year, O’Reilly’s Bird Week is Australia’s longest running birding event, drawing participants from around the world to this biodiversity hotspot. The seven day program provides an opportunity to see many of the iconic birds that reside in and around the Lamington area with extended excursions to Southport Broadwater and the Kerry Valley.”

Set inside Brisbane the 2 acre sanctuary is home to more than 130 koalas as well as Kangaroos, dingoes, wombats and many other Australian natives. In addition to touring the facility, watching shoes and watching wild life you can also have your photo taken with a Koala, Snake or baby Crocodile. Then watch the amazing birds of prey fly high and swoop low in the free flight shows. You can even get your photo taken with an owl or wedge-tailed eagle after the show.

When I was little Australia was the one place that I wanted to go to so badly! I don’t know what it was that attracted me to the place…. maybe it was the cute koala bears.
This is my husband and my dream vacation!! Great tips! Thank you for sharing – I’ve pinned this in case we ever go…
Fun stuff! I’ve always wanted to visit Australia.
The koala sanctuary would be tops on my list, but that bridge walk would be amazing too!
Right? I can’t believe how close it is to the city too.
