Ever since I got the Fitbit Ultra a little over a year ago, I’ve been a little bit obsessed with Fitbit products on the whole. I actually own every Fitbit product made and some, I’ve purchased multiple times from loss. Prior to receiving the Fitbit Flex as part of my SprintMom campaign with Mom Central, you never caught me without my Fitbit One. Unfortunately, I was constantly forgetting my Fitbit on the previous days jeans or worrying about it getting caught on a bag or strap or working it’s way loose from my jean pocket.
So I was really excited to try out the new Fitbit Flex with it’s super convenient wristband design.
Like the Fitbit Ultra and One, the Flex can:
- Track steps, distance, calories burned and active minutes.
- Monitor sleep
- Sync automatically with your laptop/iPhone/Android device
- Set goals, display progress and allow me to earn badges
- be recharged
But it also does some great things the Fitbit Ultra and One can’t:
- It’s water resistant (I swam in the ocean and the pool with it on (briefly) and it survived).
- Has a Silent Alarm so I can wake up without disturbing Ben.
- The wristband design is much more user friendly than the clip. (and harder to lose!)
While all of these features are neat, the true value of the Fitbit Flex is that all of these things work together to keep me both motivated and aware. For starters, as a bracelet and often in my line of vision, I catch myself frequently tapping it to display how I’m doing towards my goal for the day. It’s slightly inconvenient to not know exactly HOW many steps I’ve gone without logging into my account, but that curiosity is pretty easily resolved by checking the app on my phone.
I do miss being able to track stairs climbed, but overall the fact that I haven’t lost the Flex yet probably more than makes up for that lack of data! I also wish that sometimes I could place the tracker in a more discreet location for the times when I would rather not wear it on my wrist (ie my wedding). It would have been nice to track my calories burned dancing the night away, but I opted not to wear it. Perhaps a clip accessory is in order for these occasions?
I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received product samples to facilitate my review.
The Fitbit Flex is available at Sprint. When purchased at Sprint, you’ll have unlimited data – which makes it convenient to sync your Fitbit data on-the-go as often as you want without worrying about overages on your wireless bill.
I have the Fitbit scale, but would like to try out the Fitbit Flex too. I have a resolution this upcoming year to get more in shape. I think I might have to splurge on one of these.
i love my fitbt flex. i want a new color band for it tho!
I could really use a Fitbit. I am trying to cut down my calories and burn some extra calories. This would be a great tool in my quest to get healthy.
I have the FitBit One but think I would like this Flex better. Thanks for sharing!
I saw these profiled in my latest issue of Self magazine and was really intrigued, however, they didn’t have a lot of information about them in the magazine. I’m glad that you not only showed more information but included screen grabs as well :)
