This summer, try tackling one of these fun charity fitness events instead. From walks to kayak events, there is a race for everyone – and the best part is that participating in fitness charity events means you’ll be giving back to your community while having fun!
Stand Up For Veterans – Westport, CT July 8th
Raise money for Help Our Heroes Organization and Paws For Purple Hearts at the 4th Annual Stand Up For Veterans Charity Event. This stand up paddle board event has a 6m and 3m race as well as a 1m fun paddle.
AIDS Walk – San Francisco July 15th
At Golden Gate Park, the AIDS Walk 10k helps raise money for Bay Area AIDS service organizations. AIDS Walk San Francisco has been raising money since 1987 and has given back over $90 million to AIDS programs and services in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Climate Ride – Montana and Canada July 17-22
Spend four days cycling, one day of rafting and one day of hiking in Glacier National Park in efforts to support its conservancy. The Climate Ride is a beautiful tour of this incredible National Park, and it helps protect the pristine land for generations to come.
Tour de Cure – Silicon Valley August 5th
Help fight diabetes while cycling! Whether you are an avid cyclist or a novice, Tour de Cure is the one of the top multi-site cycling events in the country. There are a variety of routes to take for the event depending on your skill level, and if you aren’t a cyclist there is also a 5k run/walk you can do instead.
Susan G. Komen 3‑Day® – Seattle September 14-16
Show what you are made of on this 3 day, 60 mile walk. The Susan G. Komen® foundation made a goal in 2016 to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50%. When you participate in the walk, you are helping reach that goal and bonding with the other walkers eager to help save lives.
Paddle For Your Cause – Haslett, MI September 15th
Choose 4 local organizations you would personally like to support and part of your registration fee for the Paddle For Your Cause event will be donated. Choose how you would like to support local charities with this Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayak race. There is a half mile race and a 2 mile race depending on your skill level.
St. Jude Walk/Run – New York September 22nd
Support St. Jude’s efforts to end childhood cancer. Bring the whole family to the walk/run to support the cause and provide families the support they need when they have children battling cancer.
When St. Jude first opened their doors, the survival rate for childhood cancer was only 20%, but now, they have raised that rate to 80%. Families never receive a bill, and they get the care and support they need to battle childhood cancer. Be a part of this amazing cause.
One Love Charity Yoga Event – San Diego September 23rd
Get out that yoga mat and head to San Diego for the 7th annual charity yoga event with One Love. All proceeds for the class benefit under-represented children (specific beneficiaries will be announced soon). Kerry Walsh-Jennings, 3x Beach Volleyball Olympic Gold Medalist will be there as a keynote, and there will be a beer garden afterwards!
Panda Paddle – San Diego October 20th
The World Wildlife Fund has organized the first ever peer to peer fundraising event in San Diego’s Mission Bay. Choose from a solo 10k challenge or a 5k course that can be done in teams, and help protect the natural world. Afterwards, there will be land-based festival with food, music, and more for the whole family.
Ride On For World Bicycle Relief – Zwift December 1st
This virtual bike ride is a 24 hour fundraising race to help raise money for Ride On for World Bicycle Relief which provides bicycles to rural African communities in need. You won’t even need to leave the house for this race, and you will help provide a major resource to people in Africa.
