A bug has bitten my family this year. When my grandfather unexpectedly passed away we vowed to make more moments together, but finding something that all ages can participate in can be a challenge. In our quest to find something family friendly we turned to 5Ks as the perfect solution.
They offer fun themes, raise money for important causes and are suitable for all ages and physical fitness levels. Unfortunately, being a big pregnant, I wasn’t able to participate in the first 5K this year but we have big plans for next summer as they’re no shortage of 5Ks to be found. Our family is looking for the messiest, goofiest and more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
The Color Run
First stop this year? The Color Run. The Color Run was founded in March 2011 as an event to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together to participate in the “Happiest 5K on the Planet”. It was the perfect way to kick off our effort to make more moments together. It ended up being a blast for the whole family whether they were walking, running, jogging or being pushed in strollers. Plus, it was fantastically messy fun!
Disney Princess 5K
What a better way to experience Epcot than by dressing up as your favorite princess and challenging yourself to a 5K? It’s a great way to inspire young princesses to take on healthy habits and meet their favorite characters along the way. Princes are invited too!
Your First Mud Run
If a color run isn’t messy enough for you, there is always a Mud Run. What’s unique about the Your First Mud Run experience is that it’s one of the few, if not the only, mud races in the country where kids can run the same course alongside their parents.
The Color Vibe
This race is all about fun: Kids are encouraged and kids under 12 are FREE. Costumes are encouraged. Walking is okay, races aren’t even timed. It’ all about getting family and friends together to have a great time.
Who knew getting the kids filthy could be so fun for the whole family? Even better, enter the #MyFilthiestPlay contest by Maytag for a chance to win weekly prizes like a Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer pair, and the opportunity of a lifetime – a grand prize trip to the World Series. Entering is easy too, you just need to get a little dirty! As the official washer and dryer of MLB, Maytag laundry is calling ball players of all ages to upload photos or videos of their sliding, diving or just “filthy plays” using “#MyFilthiestPlay” on Twitter or Instagram.
The contest is in honor of Maytag’s newest Top Load Washer & Dryer pair being a better build because they are designed, engineered and assembled in America and have the power to clean big league stains. Check out the Filthiest Plays of the Week.
That looks so fun. We would love to participate in an event like this.
Messy can def. be good. :) I like the idea of being active with the family.
My friends and I participate in these! Way to go Maytag on spreading some family fun that takes place AWAY from the Xbox and computer :)!
These look like really fun things which get the whole family invovled – love the colour run one!
This is a fun activity to do! A little twist to that long and arduous 5K run. My cousins are fun run geeks and they would surely love to participate in something like this. Thanks for sharing!
