Isn’t it strange how your life can change in just an instant? With the birth of my son, I suddenly saw life through a different lens. I held him in my arms for the first time, and my life immediately became about him. While my main focus has been his health and happiness, I realized that my own health as well as my husband’s has also become a top priority.
This year we celebrated Thanksgiving at our house, and the whole family came over for my son’s first turkey day. We referred to the holiday as “Hanksgiving” after our son Hank and joked that everyone was coming over to celebrate how thankful they were for him. While our family gobbled down food and fought over who got to hold the baby next, I noticed that my husband was oddly quiet. When I asked him what was wrong, he just said, “I wish my Dad was here for this.”
My husband lost his father to a heart attack, and with each important milestone, it is painful that his father isn’t here to witness it. Growing up, my husband was close with his father, and he feels cheated by the loss. Never will his father get to see the man he became. Never will he meet his own grandson. However, my husband hopes he can have the same close relationship with our son and give him the time his father couldn’t. In order to be there for all of those wonderful milestones, we need to take care of our health.
The fact that my husband’s father died from a heart attack means that my husband is at a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, and we need to start taking the necessary precautions before it’s too late. It isn’t always easy with our busy schedules or special occasions such as Thanksgiving, but we want our son to grow up with both of his parents. We want to be there for him for years to come. Therefore, the healthy changes need to start with us to better ourselves as well as to provide a good example for our son.
Both my husband and I have come from families where I feel there was a lot of ignorance about nutrition. I grew up with six siblings so we needed lots of food that was fast, cheap, and easy. My husband had single parent home that worked full time which meant there weren’t many home cooked meals. We both grew up consuming foods that were high in fat and preservatives, and I must say we haven’t done a great job as adults despite the fact that we are well aware of the consequences of unhealthy eating. Now, we want something better for our son.
Thankfully, there are a lot of options for healthier living today. Not only do we have access to information about nutrition, there are also many companies specifically designed for healthier, cleaner living. As my son begins his transition to baby food, there is only one company that I trust with his nutrition, Happy Baby.
Happy Baby offers everything that my son needs to begin healthy eating habits right from the start. My husband and I both work full time which means we don’t have time to puree fruits and veggies for homemade baby food, but Happy Baby makes products I trust to provide my son with the nutrition he needs. The first 1,000 days of nutrition are critical to a child’s development, and Happy Baby is committed to giving babies the best possible beginning with foods that taste good and are loaded with nutrition. I can quickly grab a pouch of baby food or a snack and toss it in the diaper bag. The resealable pouches and containers are perfect for on the go parents like us. To be honest, the food tastes so delicious that I often sneak a couple pieces.
This incredible company was founded by Shazi Visram and other moms that wanted organic, minimally processed options for baby food. Happy Baby is made by moms just like you so they know exactly what we want for our child’s nutrition, and they know the importance of ease and convenience. What started as a line of baby food has now expanded into a line for tots, kids, and even adults making up the line of Happy Family products.

Nutrition provides the building blocks for development and the fuel for our bodies. When we continually eat over processed foods, full of things are bodies don’t need, we find ourselves sluggish, irritated, and unable to focus. Think about what that does to the developing brain of a child.

I have never heard of Happy Family before but I will have to check it out. My sister would love to find out about the Happy Baby food too. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad to see companies offering organic baby foods. When my daughter was a baby, we were stuck with store bought food.
My kids enjoyed the, what I call, “Cheesy Puffs”. I want to see if my little guy will try the Rice Cakes, those look good.
We use this brand and love it! Happy Baby=Happy Family!
Aww what sweet pics. I love that there are so many options these days for babies and kids. I made all of mine when my kids started eating solids bc I dont think they made these.
