Like a scene out of a movie, I climbed onto the back of Snickers, my gentle brown horse, and trotted off through the Arizona desert past rattlesnakes and prickly cacti accompanied by our own real live cattle dog. This horseback riding in Arizona adventure had finally begun.
We weren’t headed for the O.K. Corral, or riding off into the sunset, we were on a #BloggersGo Girlfriend’s Getaway adventure with Fort McDowell Adventures.
The company owns 25,000 acres of land and offers unique experiences for its guests. You can participate in your own city slicker cattle drive, go hiking, kayaking, hop on a horse for a guided trail ride, ride on an off-road jeep tour, experience a cowboy cookout and more.
Horseback Riding is available Monday-Saturday, Sunrise to Sunset. What a lovely way to spend the morning, with five of my closest friends on the back of Snickers, one of the gentle horses from Fort McDowell Adventure’s own collection at The Stables.
Whether its your first visit to the Arizona desert, or one of many, riding on horseback is a great way to experience the dusty terrain of the Sonoran Desert, get close up with a Saguro cactus, and splash through the Verde River.
On our one and half hour leisurely ride, we were surrounded by the natural beauty of Arizona and we even encountered a gorgeous wild mustang along the way!
While our morning was extremely serene and relaxing, this could have easily turned into a #BloggersGoWild trip instead! If you like tequila and love to party, Fort McDowell also has a tequila bus you can reserve with 10 of your friends and enjoy a road trip that you might not remember, but won’t want to forget.
Sightseeing, tequila tasting, a wiener roast, and maracas! One tequila, two tequilas, three tequilas, FLOOR!
A big thanks to Snickers, my trusty steed for the day and to Fort McDowell Adventures for hosting our ride. You can learn more about Fort McDowell Adventures on Facebook or follow them on Twitter @FortMcDowellAdv.
I have never seen such a tall cactus in my whole life. Horseback riding is fun, I did it when I was younger. Arizona is beautiful, i love the dessert scenery.
this looks fun! my daughter used to horseback ride regularly, so she would love this. I love that horse’s name is snickers
I have only been horseback riding once and it still brings back memories. I even remember the horse’s name – Blue. Looks like you will also remember Snickers for a long time to come.
Think it is time for a ride.
This looks awesome. I wish I had down this when I lived in Arizona!
This looks like it was a blast! I haven’t gone horseback riding in years!
