Pure Michigan

As adventure of spending  the next 20 years inside educational institutions looms before my daughter, I’ve been spending more time thinking about ways to instill a passion and love of learning. As a preschooler it’s easy with fun songs and hands on crafts. But what happens when children hit the age where they’re too cool for school? When preparing for the school day is met with grumbles of protest and I have to start bag checking for homework? For some reason there is an idea that has always stuck with me – travel. To begin with, an exploration of our great state: One State, One Family, One Epic Trip.

One of the things I love about Michigan is it’s great history. Some of the most influential periods in Michigan history was the French and Indian War and the introduction of the Automobile to name a few. A tour of our great state shows the many Forts,  Museums and Monuments that are a reflection of it’s history.

What better time to explore than during winter break? No school, discounted prices on everything and plenty of excuse to stop for pasties and hot cocoa. But thanks to getting T-Boned on icy roads last week my car is not in any shape for a road trip. Which is OKAY, since a road trip is the perfect excuse to rent a car for the week. Who wouldn’t want an excuse to drive around a new vehicle for the week? Bonus, better gas milage, all the latest technology and with Enterprise “Plus Your Points” promotion we can earn double points toward free rentals in the future.

During the annual “Plus Your Points” promotion (12/2/13 –  3/31/14) through the Enterprise Plus loyalty program you can earn points by:

  • Purchase a qualifying rental (earn double points)
  • Add a GPS unit as part of a qualifying rental (earn 50 bonus points)
  • Share the qualifying “Plus Your Points” message on Twitter (earn 20 bonus points)
  • Refer a friend into the “Plus Your Points” promotion, who subsequently rents with Enterprise at least once during the promotion earning period (earn 300 bonus points)

The more points you earn equals more opportunities for free rental days! Plus, there are no blackout dates and that points do not expire as long as you have one qualifying Enterprise rental within every two-year period! How awesome is that?!

All point activity is tracked through the “Plus Your Points” website. A participant must register on the Enterprise Plus Your Points promotion website in order to receive points. To enroll in the Enterprise “Plus Your Points” promotion, click here

  1. I have never been to Michigan before, I obviously need to go there and check it out… in summer though ;) I’m not a big one on cold, snowy locations, I lived up north for too long to take vacations in those locales in winter time!

  2. What a fun road trip. I so love Enterprise, haven’t used them yet but I have had to call them to inquire and our local reps were super nice over the phone answering all of my questions. I would love to give them a test drive around here because I want to plan a trip to FL some day and Enterprise would be our local go to place to test out! Thanks for sharing your experiences.

  4. We rented a minivan for our trip to Tennessee this weekend and were thrilled with the 25 mpg that we got on our way here. I’m a huge fan of family road trips!
