Have you ever come home from a family vacation and felt like you needed a vacation from your vacation? As a child, my memories of family vacations play through my head like a highlight reel, remembering only the best parts. Being a parent is like getting the chance to see the “behind the scenes” of that highlight reel.
Who knew creating childhood memories was actually so much work?! Then you finally get home and bring all of this “vacation baggage” with you. The kids sleep schedules are off, suitcases are full of dirty laundry and everyone is feeling just a bit uncivilized after a week of freedom. There has to be a better way and I think the new Residence Inn Maui Wailea has found it. It’s not crazy gimmick or expensive kids club. It’s really simple actually: thoughtful gestures.
From their complimentary hot breakfast bar and free grocery delivery, to a large laundry facility, Maui’s newest vacation option for families won me over with it’s thoughtful amenities.
Set against a contemporary Hawaiian motif, the all-suite hotel consists of studio, one and two bedroom offerings. My first thought was how convenient the bedroom options made putting the kids to bed easier.
In most typical hotel rooms, the whole family is usually regulated by the youngest member’s bedtime. But what really had my mom wheels spinning were the fully equipped kitchens and free grocery delivery service. Yeah, you read that right.
Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and I-didn’t-finish-my-dinner-snacks. So many snacks. Having a kitchen in the room is not only convenient, it saves us a small fortune feeding bottomless pits. We spend hours each day feeding our kids, so it’s thoughtful amenities like this that can save some hassle so you can enjoy more family time.
Moms will also enjoy the boutique hotel feel of the courtyard – large enough that it doesn’t feel like a trip to the community pool, while small enough that you can park yourself on a lounge chair next to the pool and still be able to keep the kids in view across the courtyard as they squirrel from pool to hot tub, hot tub to oversized lawn games, lawn games to the putting green, and back to the pool again. Not chasing the kids around the property all day is a win in itself, but being located next to the pool bar isn’t a loss either!
While it may be tempting to spend the entire vacation poolside, Maui is an island worth exploring and the hotel is conveniently situated close to The Shops at Wailea, three championship golf courses at Wailea Golf Club, the Wailea Tennis Club, and a number of restaurants and three beaches: Makena, Wailea and Ulua. Residence Inn even makes it all the more convenient by offering a courtesy shuttle service.
It’s these thoughtful amenities that put the relaxation back in vacation for parents, earning Residence Inn Maui our family friendly stamp of approval.
Although I was hosted by Residence Inn Maui, all opinions remain my own.
