First, there was the man cave. A place where a guy can escape from the world.
Until now, the only comparable thing women had were oversized powder rooms, walk-in closets, or perhaps a craft room. Until now.
Meet the “She Shed.”
What exactly is a She Shed?
Never heard of a She Shed? It’s a backyard haven for women.
Every woman deserves a shed of her own. Whether it’s a whimsical glass she shed or a simple small she shed — somewhere to retreat for some peace and quiet, to create, write, paint or just enjoy the view.
What is the purpose of a She Shed?
The most common purpose of a she shed is to have somewhere that creates a peaceful atmosphere. Some women swear by soft, muted or pastel colors and super comfy furniture is a must.
She sheds were initially a place to decompress and relax without reality barging in. And by reality, I mean children or husbands.
Somewhere you could grab a good book and enjoy all the girly things – beautiful flowers, fluffy pillows and lavender scents.
Or in my case, mine would be filled with beautiful tropical plants, a comfortable squishy couch, a TV and a wine fridge. I could watch all the chick flicks I want – alone, or even better with a girlfriend.
Our favorite She Shed inspirations
This gorgeous glass she shed via Heather Bullard is a garden shed elevated and perfect for a gal with a green thumb.
This Indianesque she shed via Good To Grow makes me want to sit down a few of the girls for glass of wine!
If you’re looking for something that will blend right into the back yard this She Shed by Jamie and Gemma Dix via dailymail.co.uk is just right.
The beach is my happy place and I’m always looking for ways to bring it in. Coastal Home nailed it with their design, I love the way the walls open up to make the most of the ocean views.
Another gorgeous glass she shed from Better Homes and Gardens. Reminds me of an English cottage greenhouse.
Purple is my favorite color so I was immediately drawn to this beautiful she shed from Cottage Gardening. I love the way it looks like a small house. Possibly something out of a fairytale.
Doesn’t this small sheshed design from House to Home scream shabby farmhouse chic to you?
I love the rustic but very girl design that Wooden House gave this tiny shed. It reminds me of a child’s playhouse…upgraded.
Believe it or not but this She shed from Cuprinol via dailymail.co.uk is styled after a Nissen hut. I love how big and spacious it looks!
This little cottage from Ann and Brian Bailey via Goodreadsdailymail.co.uk looks like something straight out of a fairy tale!
As does this one from Wooden House, check out that thatch roof!
I can’t get enough of all the windows from this design by Pineapple Room. It’s perfect for those with a private backyard or at least a privacy fence.
This is one of the few industrial looking She Shed’s I’ve seen and I love the way Post City designed it!
This she shed by Dot and Bo is a little bit beachy and a little bit chic which I love. Although I might add a chaise lounge and a desk.
What would you want to have in your She Shed?

I think I need some acreage because I want each and every one of these! LOL
If we had the space in our backyard, I’d totally have one of these. It would be perfect for me to get away and get work done or just relax!
I would happily take any one of these beautiful designs! For me it would have to be a relaxing haven, away from the kids and husband haha!
