Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching! How will you be celebrating? Whistler and I are in the midst of a whirlwind of adventure and travel, but somehow we still found the time to make this delicious treat for Dad. A popcorn based twist on the typical marshmallow krispie treat, after making these once, I know you’ll want to try them again in different shapes for other holidays too!
Pin this for later!
INGREDIENTS
6 cups favorite popped popcorn (about 1 bag – I used “Smart” popcorn lol)
3/4 cups dried tart cherries
1/2 (1-pound) bag mini marshmallows
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/8 cup butter
Red food coloring
Paper straws or large lollipop sticks
Heart shaped cookie cutters
Non-stick baking spray
Chocolate or fudge syrup
DIRECTIONS
Mix popcorn and cherries in a large bowl and set aside. Place marshmallows, white chocolate, and butter in a large saucepan.
Cook over low heat until melted and smooth.
Stir in a few drops of red food coloring to tint the mixture pink then pour over popcorn; toss gently until well coated.
Spray hands with non-stick cooking/baking spray and then press mixture into a 3-1/2 to 4-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter (place cutter on a foil-lined baking sheet; press in popcorn, then lift cutter off).
Carefully insert a lollipop stick or paper straw into the base of each heart and allow to cool completely.
Drizzle chocolate over hearts and allow to fully harden/dry. Wrap hearts in cellophane and tie with ribbon; stand them up in a vase or jar as a centerpiece or gift.
I made these last year so much fun. Easy to make and everyone is easily impressed.
If those taste as good as they look I want to make a batch of them! Doubt I’d share them–but I might get embarrassed into it–but then again I might not!
I love the coordinating straws that you used. Nice attention to detail right down to the last step.
Those look cute. I would love to make them with my daughter.
Those look eally good and easy to make! I love popcorn!
