This month, thousands of athletes will arrive in Los Angeles to take part in the Special Olympics World Games. The athletes will be competing in 25 different sports at venues throughout Los Angeles. The Opening Ceremony takes place on July 25th at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
Determination, perseverance, courage – these are just a few adjectives that describe those individuals who are competing in this week-long Special Olympics World Games. Verizon FiOS SoCal has made it easy for you to help support these athletes as they live out their dreams in front of us. In a city of movie stars and rock stars, wouldn’t it be great to participate in something where YOU can make these athletes feel like the real stars that they are?!

Verizon FiOS SoCal is proud to support Katherine Campos from Costa Rica as she competes in Beach Volleyball at Alamitos Beach this Sunday, July 26th.
You too can help make a difference by joining Verizon FiOS SoCal and supporting the athletes in two ways:
- Making a donation to sponsor an additional athlete at the Games. The process is fast, easy and secure. Donations may be in any amount. Nothing is too small, because every little bit counts. All funds raised will be used to sponsor athletes who will be paired to compete along with Katherine in Sunday’s Beach Volleyball game.
-and/or-
- Joining in the “Fans in the Stands” experience on Sunday, July 26th at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach. (Note: Admission is FREE)
This is a great cause to rally behind. If you’d like to support the athletes participating in the Special Olympics World Games, then I encourage you to donate to Special Olympics or sign up to join Verizon in cheering on our Special Olympic Athlete this Sunday, July 26th. More details can be found here!
Over the past few months the Verizon FiOS SoCal Experience has donated both volunteer hours and funding to The Boys and Girls Club of Pomona Valley, Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley and k9 Connection- A Project of the Ocean Park Community Center. By participating with the Verizon FiOS SoCal Experience, you can help make a difference in these athletes and in turn, promote acceptance and inclusion. For those who will be in the Southern California area this Sunday, I hope you will join me by cheering Katherine and the other athletes as they set, spike and bump their way in beach volleyball! My family, especially my daughter, is looking forward to attending with me on July 26th at Long Beach/Alamitos Beach from 10 am to 2pm. Please feel free to follow along on Twitter using #FiOSConnectsSoCal.
Please visit the Verizon FiOS SoCal Team Fundraising Page for more information on how to participate and join in on the cause.
