The hubs and I hosted our very first Thanksgiving last year. I enjoyed making recipes from home – his grandma’s recipe for fruit salad, my aunt’s green bean casserole and mashed potatoes just like my grandma made them. Then it came time to make the turkey.
There I was, 8 months pregnant, discovering what giblets were for the first time. Needless to say, the turkey quickly became my husband’s area of expertise. I do NOT have the gag reflex for turkey business.
Despite the rocky start, our turkey turned out absolutely delicious thanks to a Facetime session with my grandma and the brilliant idea to throw a bunch of chopped veggies and quartered lemons inside (see the vegetable medley below).
This year we can’t wait to step up our bird game with one of these delicious ways stuff & season a Thanksgiving Turkey.
